The Safety Benefits of a Hydraulic Hose Protector

11/26/2014

Hydraulic hoses are used for a number of different applications but what all of these applications have in common are that these hoses are used in transporting material that would be damaging or harmful if not sent through these hoses. That is why using a hydraulic hose protector is so important on the worksite, not only for the protection of these materials but also employees and the environment.

Hydraulic hoses are used to transport materials that cannot be distributed by hand. Things like petroleum oil, synthetic oil, any liquid with high water content. Hoses are also used for high temperature liquids or those liquids being transported with high or low pressure readings. Hoses help to ensure that the materials will be moved to the right places without injuring employees or causing damage to the worksite.

You can find hydraulic hoses on a number of different worksites. Oil refineries use hoses to remove the sludge from the bottom of oil tanks or to replace or remove old oil. Factories use hoses when the product they are making uses water or another kind of liquid material. Mining companies use hoses to transport water to workers and to transfer materials. Gas companies use hoses to replace oil into tanks so that consumers can begin purchasing. Airports use hydraulic hose systems to bring fuel into the plane and remove waste. Construction companies use them to replace plumbing systems or to fix leaks. So as you can see, the uses for hydraulic hoses in the industrial field are endless. In our opinion, what there needs to be more of is hydraulic hose protection for these crucial elements of the jobsites.

If you are using hydraulic hoses and not outfitting them with protective devices, it could be a matter of time before you have a dangerous mess on your hands. Without proper protection, hoses can become damaged or broken thus leading to spills and environmental damage as well as the possibility of human injury as well. Industrial vehicles, human error, equipment malfunction, all of these could be the possible cause for a damaged hydraulic hose. However, it is easy to protect these hoses when you outfit them with a hydraulic hose protector from Brahman Systems. Over 57% of “premature hose failures result from abrasion caused by improper routing” which explains the importance of “carefully placed clamps...and protective sleeves.”

Furthermore, it isn’t just the use of hose protectors, it is the materials that make up the hose protector that matter. Some companies use plastic, rubber, or aluminum, only Brahman Systems use steel reinforced hose protectors. In fact, our design is so effective and revolutionary, that is has been patented. Not only are they the strongest hose protectors on the market, they are easy to install. Using a forklift, simply place the protectors where the hoses are, lock them into place and that is it! Easy as 1-2-3 and built Brahman tough so you can trust that you are getting quality protection.

Staying Safe During Road Construction

11/21/2014

We have all been stuck in that traffic jam, looking around, honking your horn, trying to find the cause of the delay. When you do finally get to seeing that road construction is being performed, you sigh and try to avoid hitting a worker. The next time you come across construction being performed around traffic, be on the lookout for these possible hazards.

Nails, Glass and Debris

Construction is a messy industry. No surprise there. Be careful when you are driving through a construction zone that you are not swerving or moving too quickly, otherwise your tires may catch some of the debris from building materials. Be sure you are driving slowly through these construction zones and if you do hear that tell-tale “pop!” be sure to pull over quickly.

Industrial Vehicles

Construction vehicles, like dump trucks and bulldozers, are great for the site but they don’t have the best range of motion or the best peripheral mirrors. While workers are trained for this kind of work, trying to navigate tons of building materials in or around traffic is no easy task. So if you see an industrial vehicle trying to get into reverse or trying to move through traffic, give them the right of way. You might be late for work or don’t want to get stuck behind them but trying to out-drive a vehicle that is 4 times the size of your car will not work out in your favor. Be smart and look around when you are driving through construction zones.

Wiring and Hoses

For road work to be completed, construction companies have to be prepared for a number of variables. They could hit a water maine. They could hit a gas line. They could mismeasure and have to start from the beginning. This is why construction often takes so long, because it is so important to be precise and to only have to do the project once. In order to deal with any potential hazards, workers use hoses, wires and cables in order to get electricity to power tools, get rid of waste and to redirect water lines. In order to make their project as non-invasive as possible, contractors need these tools. And in order to protect these tools, they should be using cable and hose protectors. This way, cars and industrial vehicles can move over the hose and cables without damage or disruption.

Employees

Construction is one of the most dangerous professions to be a part of because of falls, equipment failure and other accidents. When you are driving through road construction zones be extremely careful to look for employees. Hopefully they are wearing protective gear like hard hats and reflective clothing, especially at night, but there are a number of extenuating circumstances that may cause an employee to accidently fall into the street or to drop a tool. Be cautious and be aware of others around you.

Regardless of what kind of festival you are coordinating or attending, you want to make sure that it is a safe event. Accidents occurring at festivals can be problematic because there are so many people and without the proper safety features in place, people can get hurt or the festival won’t receive good reviews.

If you are planning an outdoor festival, then you will likely have wiring going in every direction. This is dangerous because people can trip and hurt themselves, performers can fall, and foot traffic can damage the wiring leading to lights, sound and other important features for a festival. The weight of trucks and vans loading and unloading equipment can easily damage unprotected wiring. Sanitation can become overwhelmed, leaving your guests to their own devices. All in all, having outdoor wiring protection is the only way to keep your wiring safe and your guests comfortable.

Brahman Systems cable and hose ramps are the perfect addition to any festival. Unlike other companies that use aluminum, rubber or plastic materials for their protection, Brahman’s is way tougher than that. Our cable and wiring protective products are built tough thanks to reinforced steel and have been tested to withstand over 65 tons! So bring on your vehicles and trucks, Brahman’s outdoor wiring protection can take the weight. We are called “the new standard” in cable, hose and wiring protection because of our innovative and patented design.

You can rest easy knowing that Brahman is on the job at your festival. Having Brahman Systems working for you means safety and efficiency. Don’t fret about foot traffic or vehicles disturbing your wiring. Not only are we the best, but our wiring management products are easy to install, all you need is a forklift! Find the places you know will be problematic for wiring and people, and simply, place and lock. You’ll never have to touch them again. How much easier could it be?

The bigger festivals become the more protective products they’ll need. So make sure that any outdoor event you are coordinating has the new standard in cable and wiring protections. Don’t forget to invite Brahman Systems to the festival!

Providing Your Work Site With a Better Cable Protection System

At industrial sites, the list of potential dangers is longer than the paperwork needed after a workers comp case. A commonly overlooked one? The cables and hoses you have snaking across your work site, just waiting for a vehicle to drive over them and bust, or for a worker to trip and take a fall. Either way, you'll be held responsible. Thankfully, there have been innovations that will save you money, paperwork, and time.

Brahman's patented cable protection system is one such patented solution. Previously, you had a few different options. You could dig a trench and bury the cables, which was costly, time-consuming, and typically led to anger from environmental groups (never a fun thing to hear about from your boss). You could think above the box, and hang the cables and hoses, which would reduce the changes of a vehicle driving over them or tripping workers - but would come with a host of other challenges in its place like falling objects. A common solution was to use scaffolding boards, but anyone who has ever lost a vehicles tires to one of these splintering will know it's not a good solution.

What makes Brahman different?
  • It's quick to install, done in half the time of trenching or building a scaffold board crossing.
  • It's affordable, with most customers noting 40% cost savings over alternative solutions.
  • It's simple. You just need a forklift to install, and once the Brahman System has been placed, you don't have to worry about it again.
Ready to move to a next-generation cable protection system? Try Brahman Boards today by calling 225.637.3700.
